Prairie doll in the making..I LOVE Prairie dolls

as I create them in my minds eye I do step back in time..When the west was wild and and not

crowed when times were hard yet so simple.These dolls represent those times..Created along the wagon wheels and very uncomfortable long rides across our great land.. Mothers gather what ever was at hand to create a life time friend for their daughters.

there is no rhyme nor reason for creating this doll .NO dead line to meet..Just the best and funnest side of doll making,,Just the want to! Sitting down with pencil and paper and start sketching out whats in my heart...

This doll for some reason has been wanting to come to life through my heart and fingers..

I wanted to show and share her going through her growth steps..

Practing Practing on creating softer faces yet not loosing the yesteryear effect..

I used water color pencils for her facial features and blush for her cheecks so far..I now will

rub her down achieving even more of a softer face and making her look vintage.

Cloth Doll Artistry's Halloween Challenge

CDA is hosting it's first Halloween Challenge for ALL STUDIOS.

Create a Halloween doll, pin or craft. If you are participating in the challenge at this studio, forward one photograph to the studio's coordinator by October 24, 2009. CDA members can vote in each studio for one winner. Voting in each studio will begin October 28 -31, 2009. The winners from each studio will receive a variety of doll patterns, an exclusive class with Kat Lees, a free 3-month advertising spot, and be a featured artist on the showcase studio.

Aprons I made for the March Apron Swap

Talk about being late..I think I am the worst swapper.

These were do the end of March and I have just mailed them out.I have two of the most understanding partners in the world.They are sooo understanding.
My friend who thought she would be off work with a torn groin muscle asked me to come work her shop filling in for her she is and so am I are hair dressers.WELL to come to find out Carol
did not have a torn groin muscle but a broken right hip!!!
I will be filling in for her for 3 months instead of a week..Talk about a huge life style change whoa!
As of Saturday I did get my partners aprons finished and in the mail..

Heads Of Thingy 2

Well up date on my friend who is a hair dresser who had called me asked me to come and work her shop , My daughter Valerie who works for a radiologist set up for her to have a MRI early yesterday (Saturday)..Carol has a broken hip!!She has been
walking ( I should say crawling around now since the first week in Feb..) They wouldn't even let her drive to the hospital had a family come to the radiologist and drive her straight to the hospital and she had a totally hip replacement this morning (Sunday)
So she won't be back at work for three weeks..whoa...
Of course she is booked solid for the next two weeks..Snow birds getting ready to leave for home and it being Easter week!!.Well the people will let me do their hair or reschedule..
I am trying my best to stay calm ..LOL

This is the "TEAR DROP" made and installed by the Russians to honor those who died in 9 11 and a statement against terrorism. It is very impressive. The tear drop is lined up with the Statue of Liberty .

Names of the persons killed on 9 11 are inscribed on the base. The base like the Vietnam Memorial wall. It was a cold and windy day but well worth the drive to see. It is down in the shipping yards across from "The Lady".

This side is a paisley, I made the Tea Pot, Sugar Bowl,Spoon and Two Cups

and appliqué them to the pocket.

On the reversible side It is a pinstripe, I made the Tea Pot, Sugar Bowl,Spoon and Two Cups

I really stepped out of comfort zone on this Apron,

I had a blast making it!! What Fun!

Yep I've been working!

I really got me rear in gear! I made templates for NINE different dolls, AND have ALL their bodys sewn and ready to stuff!!First one: is a pattern from Threadbare Primitives Lil Prim Folk Pumpkin Doll 11" Tall
This my interpretation of Lil Prim Folk Pumpkin Doll , She needs a bit of hair and she is all finished tada! She is a whopping 11 inches ,
I hand painted her face , Her eyes are a beautiful green, Couldn't get the camera to cooperate !! and I hand striped her legs..I really like how she turned out..

This is a new technique for me, I have been wanting to REALLY learn how to shadow a dolls face...This is in a beginning stage...lots more to be done to her,.. but I wanted to place her on my blog soI could get a third person view as I go along, I'm NOT liking what I''m seeing so far though...I'm using artist pencils and acrylics ..The pattern I'm using is by Designer: RK Creations, Karen Nieforth, It is called Emily

I have been wanting a pilgrim woman and man doll for a couple years..I adore Peddler Hill Primitives pattern,Their like taking a doll class.VERY detailed and their just wonderful. I copied the description and place her deatils and link below..
Prudence is approx 25" tall. The pumpkin and corn pattern are included. However, the corn is made from indian corn material that I purchased in Walmart. It is not painted or drawn. I have also included, in this pattern, vintage images that you can make Thanksgiving tags with.
