Luisa Old Fashion Doll of YesterYear

be sure to click on all pictures to enlarge them:)
Luisa is my offering for January 2008 at The Humble Arts;
be sure to check out all the Artists Offerings January 1, 2008!!http://www.thehumblearts.com
Luisa is a Old fashion doll "YesterYear Style" Like the Mothers from Yesteryear would have made for their daughters.
Luisa is 16 inches from the top of her head to the bottom of her feet,I created her using Judi Wards double dart pattern for her head and body, Luisa's arms and legs are my own design .Using the double darts gives a chin a bit of depth to her face.

Luisa's has been aged and sanded for a real yesteryear feel, Her face is hand drawn using artists pencils and then sealed. Just look at her gorgeous blue eyes!
Her dress is awesome.Tight fitting bodice to her waist with a wide waist
band that cinches her waist, Along with nice puffy sleeves.
The fabric of her dress is just beautiful ,The pictures just don't do justice.Lusia wear stockings with hand painted slippers, and a red velveteen petticoat Lusia has a boxed bottom and she sits very nicely

Great Christmas and I have been tagged!

I hope you all had a wonderful and Blessed Christmas!
We celebrated this year on Christmas Day All the kids and their spouses and fiancee' came over bearing gifts Love, Smiles, Hugs, and their favorite covered dishes.. I bake a nice juicy Turkey Breast and a Maple Ham, along with the a few extras ice tea, Home Made Lemon cake with lemon jello and after baking ... drizzled with fresh Lemon and powder sugar, It was great to see everyone open up to each other sharing all their happenings in their lives. We are trult blessed in every area,
I did stop and do some serious thinking about what I personally would like to get accomplished in the coming year.I do not believe in "New Year Resolutions", But I do believe on personal journeys and growth set before one for a new year.
#1: Live healthier. I want to join Weight Watchers , It isn't a diet but it is a change of life style.I need to learn to make better (healthier) food choices and exercise choices ..not just for me but for my family as well! I am starting a journal again to keep me on track , and to see with my own eyes my personal journeys and growth

#2: Rise my bike and walk every day
#3:Very important to me also is to spend more time creating and less time on the computer, also keep a picture journal of my creations for 2008

I was honored by a precious friend of mine Kat of http://scaredykaterpillarsnomore.blogspot.com/ tagged me today

Reason For The Season

glitter graphics
Luke 2:6-20
6And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. 7And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
8And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. 10And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
11For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
and this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. 13And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. 15And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.
16And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.
17And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. 18And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds. 19But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.
20And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.
Merry Christmas to every one from my family to yours.
Love and Hugs Sherrie

Izzy Belle

My newest baby just in time for Christmas! Isn't she just awesome..
I did not create her I won her on eBay from Doll artist Deana Rossman of PurtyCountryThangs
http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZpurtycountrythangs
I never thought I would win her but I did tada~~
Many reason why I wanted this baby..I have never seen up close or touched a clay doll head and wanted to see it what it is all about, This type of doll is on my dream list to hopefully create one day. When I saw Izzy Belle oh my she just reached out and touched my heart,Isn't her gown beautiful..I adore her facial expression also
She came with her own vintage Cradle!
Look at her bonnet!

Here is her Description from the auction:
I love how she turned out. Izzy Belle is made from
my own design and measures approx. 17" tall and her dress is a couple of inches longer. Her
body is from a knitted vintage doll form and I've added her hands made from needle
sculpted, painted muslin (she even has tiny painted nails) Her head is sculpted from clay and
securely attached. Her eyes are inserted black glass beads at the pupils and then the iris
painted around them. Her eyes seem to follow you around the room. I added extra texture
to her hair giving it more shape and waves. Her dress is an antique baby's dress in near
pristine condition. The two little ties in the back are original and it has pretty blue stiched
smocking at the bottoms and sleeve cuffs. I made her pantalettes and sweet bonnet out of
some vintage fabric that has soft white embroidery and pintucks. Izzy's little bear "Night
Night" is a purchased item. He is approx. 4 1/2" tall and has jointed arms and legs. The
inspiration for Izzy Belle was actually this vintage wooden, rocking cradle. I found this at
an estate sale. I've covered the mattress board with a piece of an old cutter quilt. I know
you will fall in love with little Izzy Belle. She will come with a decoratve hang tag with her
name on the front and signed and dated by me on the back.

Thanks for looking at my sweetie Hugs Sherrie

Bottle Brush Christmas Trees to make

I was looking for a tutorial on how to make Bottle Brush Christmas Trees

If you click on the above picture it will enlarge..any ways This tutorial was to me a old fashion way of making Bottle Brush Christmas Trees..I want some thing more vintage looking !

here is how Sarah says to do:
They are super easy to make. Buy a bag of those bottle brush trees for those Christmas train/village layouts. You know the ones? Dark green, white plastic bases, come in big packs of like 10 or 20 for $10 at the Garden Ridge type places. Fill your kitchen sink with hot water and 2 capfuls of bleach. Plop in a few trees. The bleaching starts to work immediately. If you want light green trees like I have above, remove when they are the right color and rinse them in cool water. If you want white trees, let them bleach all the way to white.
Want pink? Bleach to white, remove and rinse. Refill sink with hot water and add a little RIT dye (I used Rose Pink). Follow the instructions on the dye package for rinsing.
Once your trees are the color you want, let them stand up to dry on a towel. When completely dry you can add glitter by using those glitter glue pens you can find in the children's art supply stuff at any store.

Alrighty now run over to Clarice FoxClarice Fox
