Washcloth slippers

These simple slippers brought back such good memories, My Mother in law use to make them,
This is the first time I had ever seen the pattern!!
I got the pattern from
Washcloth slippers make a wonderful gift for those who do a lot of traveling, as they take up almost no space in a suitcase. In addition, they make great bazaar or flea market items. Check the stores for “bundles” of washcloths, which would be much cheaper to buy, or use old towels and cut to fit.

You could make a pair for every day of the week, just throw them into the washer.

Christmas apron

Sew a Christmas apron with this free and easy pattern.
Cooking and entertaining goes with the holidays, so I designed and sewed this Christmas apron for a festive addition to kitchen chores.

The first step was to hit my fabric stash to find red and green fabrics. I found the perfect combination of red, green and red and white stripe fabrics. I created a simple pattern that can be made in less than 2 hours. Click for the free pattern and instructions that you can download.

I would love to see pictures of aprons you make using this pattern. Enjoy and have a fun Christmas as you whiz through the kitchen wearing your new apron!
Happy sewing!
Phyllis

19th Century Boys' Games
This colorful lithograph of boys' on a playground was published by Pastime Publishing Company in December 1881 as a "pastime for little fingers." The many activities of young 19th century boys are portrayed; the favorite pastimes include shooting marbles, various ball games with sticks and bats, bowling, trundling hoops, playing soldier, and leapfrog. The full color page of the playground scene includes cutout figures of boys designed to be pasted on the large playground picture.
