Shadow Box Just Magical

Have you ever created  some thing  you are actually really proud of ?
For me I can't say every thing I create I feel that way about, I am  my own worst critic.
But the two things I am sharing with you today are special to me, and they make me smile, and They are special and magical in their own way. I have shared my Valentines Day Pin Keep.
Now I would like to share a small Shadow box I created, When I look at it .
It's crazy but it makes me just feel so whimsical, Simplicity, and just fun.
I really hit the jack pot at the dollar store, I found these awesome Shadow Boxes for $1.00,
So I bought 12 of them.Click to enlarge pictures:
I added from Christmas cards, The Tree, Snowman ,Snow Woman,
Hand colored with Acrylics, The Penguin, Snowman ,Snow Woman their Hats, Scarfs, Touches of color here and there.
I added snow and German  Crystals, Painted the frame Ivory and top coated it in Aqua and then distressed it,
 The frame size is 5 1/2 X 5 1/2
Living in Florida, Yeppers I keep this out in sight all year long !

I Love U Pin Keep

Wow can you believe Valentines Day is just around the corner !
I would like to share with you a Valentines Day Pin Keep I created.

It is a SympleTymes original ! I drew the hand sign language symbol which means
"I Love You"
I am proud of this little pin keep, Let me tell you turning those tiny little fingers inside out was a huge victory for me. NO blow outs!!
back Side of pin I hand sewed a pin clasp nice and secure
The size of this Pin Keep is 2 1/2 wide, and 3 inches long to the tip of the Lady Bug
Showing size compared to a quarter...
I added the Lady Bug because Lady Bugs mean Love also Good Luck, You need both when falling in Love!

Cloth Doll Artistry Studio House Challenge

This is how I used the house template from the  CDA House challenge,
The house template was just a very simple 5 inch house, We were to create with it what ever we wanted.

I chose to make a Spring Time Mat with my House.
It is like a Mug Rug but I wanted it larger, I keep by my sewing machine or sewing area and even  while doing hand sewing while sitting with my Husband watching TV and  doing hand sewing,

It keeps all my extra needles handy where I can use  them, Also can use it with my straight pins, Makes me smile when looking at it. I kept it simple, It is Quilted, Appliqued, Warm and Natural is the batting. I also stitched around each piece,But it doesn't show in picture,It must be because I used matching thread for each piece. When I am ready to use it, I just roll it up and take it with me, It is always set up with extra needles ,some threaded needles and extra pins. Come in handy!

I re stitched my Spring Time Mat with my House
Before I stitched in matching colors.Did not show up very well. I also made another
  Spring Time Mat
These also great for your 4 legged fur babies under their food and water dish!

Funny thing about doing a challenge, First thing you think of  Oh man why did I join that ?
I must have been crazy, I have other projects that need to be finish and if your doing a on line class like me You say to your self as bang your head "WHY"

Then you think of the COMMITMENT you made by signing up!

So you start your challenge that no body twisted your arm to sign up for, But really YOU are the privileged one , Think of all the work the Group/Challenge hostess put into creating the challenge for you to enjoy!

Aw! Now you started to think creative thoughts, Looking at fabric as your creative ideas  in your head begins to come alive ,

AS you see in my previous posts I am working on two dolls that are different way different form each other ,also doing my first time Quilt class. "YET"

Then it Happens, Yep you join up for their second challenge!! "WHY "you ask? !

These challenges are stimulating, Making you get out of your box, Making you become more creative, and most of all the nice feeling of:
 "I did it",
" I started and finished on time. ",
"A sense of acomplishment, No matter how small"
"The fun of seeing what others created and sharing with each other "
"Making new friends along the way" That is priceless !
I really do encourage you to take on small challenges that are out of your comfort zone
Trust me you will glad you did !

New Year Creating !

Gosh here it is a brand New Year , Can you believe it 2017!
Well yesterday I spent all day cooking meals, Enough for us for two days. Now with all that under my belt I can go to my sewing room and play!!
I have 3 projects going and want to share them .

#1: Pattern by Plain Old Rag Doll e-pattern by JDConwell Folkart Dolls
https://www.etsy.com/listing/167071153/plain-old-rag-doll-e-pattern-by?ref=shop_home_active_3

I LOVE this pattern, I am in the stuffing stage of creating her !

I never have been one to like journaling, I sat down with a nice cup of hot pomegranate tea.
and took time to REALLY look in to me, and , Starting writing what I REALLY wanted to create, I just kept seeing what I call "YesterYear " type dolls

I will be making more and more of this Vintage YeasterYear Type Dolls, Made my mind up these are what I have been wanting to create for so long, I just love them, and when I found Jan's e-pattern I was like a kid at Christmas and decided right then to take the plunge!

I can create with much love Rag Baby's like the pattern above, I have done a lot of research about the beloved Rag Babies and the thing the do for me is the transport me back in time.
I love 1800's early 19 century.
I know I can not make Izannah Walker style dolls. Though I dearly love them, Read about their history a lot, I look at the doll artists who do create them and proudly own one who was created by Jackie Eberley Nichols ,Picture of the Izannah  Doll below was created by:Jackie Eberley Nichols  https://www.pinterest.com/pin/389279961513778222/

#2:  I am also in a challenge for Cloth Doll Artistry Studio
https://www.facebook.com/groups/clothdollstudio/
The house template is only 5 inches ,I decided to create a Mug Rug or Hot Pad with the design making it my own, which is the fun part. Just can't make up my mind which it will be, I am working on it today, Cause the challenge is only one week long before it is due.

Why am I doing a Challenge??? That is what I was asking my self, Having TWO dolls in the works. I am doing the challenge because it is different, Makes me be more creative, and also pushed me to get going a bit faster,Yet with out any stress. and also it is a great way to make friends and talk about what we are all creating .SO on ward and for ward to the New Year 2017 !

#3: I am creating a large 26 inch Raggedy, SympleTymes Pattern,
Which is stuffed and ready for her face and hair and to be dressed !
Ok your turn what are you all creating for this New Year Start???
Break is over now back to my fun day "Sewing Creating"
