Just wanted to share with you my two of 3  new books..
3rd is on the way/"Selected Writings of John Darcy Noble"
I was silly and gave these away *ugh* So reordered them from amazon  at a really good price the first one is   “ Milwaukee WPA project
About un skilled workers employing 5000 women and men during the Great Depression
I quote
“ This is the inspiring story of a work program that brought fame to Milwaukee, while breaking gender and color barriers during the Great Depression”

Of course they were making dolls of all kinds..  I am still reading it.. It goes way beyond the making of a doll , but brought people of all colors together and most important Their confidence and self esteem..Making dolls in its own at least to me is a healthy Art/ Hobby!
I REALLY feel in my heart as economically times are now, Some thing like this would be a Bless to many and our nation!

 Now comes the second book

and GUESS WHAT ?????  It is SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR!!!! I had no idea it was signed, so I went back and checked my amazon orders and  it saidHardcover. Signed First Edition. xxiii +, 170 pages. Light soiling, very minor chips to dust jacket--in Brodart cover.”  I paid $5.00 that is with shipping..  Guess I need to read more carefully :)
It is in a nice dust Jacket and in perfect condition, Printed in 1945
and the price back then whoa!!!!
The reason  duh me bought this book the second time is because, It is rich in history for period dolls  how they dressed. their type of hair style and soooo much more information, Yes their are patterns in the book, but to scanned and then take to a printer to enlarge..Right away on page 10 I found the pattern I have been looking for.. The "Genevieve Doll Pattern", She has the  the front panel then a back panel which doubles then sewn to the head..Which for me gives just enough definition for the head and neck and face..Guess I am lazy because I wish she was already full size:)..
